It focuses on contemporary clinical and basic science related issues in adult and pediatric hepatobiliary and allied sciences, and publishes original research articles, editorials, reviews, and consensus guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases. Hepatology International is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Original Article

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required for Original Articles. Abstract must be structured and limited to 250 words. Abstract must be structured.
Manuscript Manuscript text must not exceed 4000 words including references. Manuscript must be organized into Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscript must include 10 keywords, a concept diagram or graphical abstract immediately after the abstract, and declarations just before the reference section.
References Reference list must not exceed 30 references. References must follow the U.S. National Library of Medicine style as in Index Medicus. References must be numbered in order of first appearance in the text, with repeated citations using the original number.
Figures & Tables Original Articles may include up to 6 tables, flow diagrams, colored figures, text boxes, or other illustrations. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems. The graphical abstract must be a single-panel high-resolution image of at least 300 dpi, preferably in .tif or .jpg format, using RGB color and Arial 12–16 pt font.

Review Article

Cover Letter Submission must be approved by all co-authors and by the responsible authorities at the institute where the work was carried out.
Abstract An abstract is required for Review Articles. The abstract must be limited to 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The text must not exceed 5000 words including references. The main text must be organized into an introductory section followed by Discussion, Conclusion, and Perspective. Review Articles must include 10 keywords and declarations just before the reference section.
References The reference list must not exceed 100 references. References must follow the U.S. National Library of Medicine style as in Index Medicus. References must be numbered in order of first appearance in the text and reused with the same number on subsequent citation.
Figures & Tables Review Articles must include at least 4 colored figures and at least 4 tables, with no more than 8 total tables, flow diagrams, colored figures, text boxes, or other illustrations. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems. Each table and figure must be numbered in Arabic numerals and cited in the text in consecutive numerical order.
