Submission Instructions
Bmc Oral Health is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:
Research Article
Cover Letter
A cover letter is required. The cover letter must explain any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved the submission, confirm the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere, and name the special issue if applicable.
Abstract
An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, and articles reporting health care interventions on human participants must also include a Trial registration section.
Manuscript
Manuscript must include a title page, a structured abstract, three to ten keywords, sections for Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and a Declarations section with all required subheadings. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a Declarations section whose nonrelevant subheadings state 'Not applicable', a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and disclosure of any large language model use in the Methods section or suitable alternative part.
References
References must follow Vancouver style. Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and public preprints may be cited; unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must be excluded from the reference list; journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE; and URLs must appear as numbered references in the reference list with full site title, full URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables
Figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript, tables up to one page may be placed within the manuscript while larger tables may be placed at the end or uploaded separately if too wide, and uncropped full-length gels and blots must be included as a single supplementary figure when cropped versions are shown in the main text. Figures and tables must be numbered in text order, multi-panel figures must be submitted as a single composite file, and cropped gels or blots must be clearly indicated with legends stating that full-length versions are provided in the supplementary figure.

Manuscript must include Background, Conclusions, and a Declarations section, and the title page must list all authors’ full names and institutional addresses, indicate the corresponding author, and provide a title that includes the study design if appropriate. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords and a Declarations section containing Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors’ contributions, Acknowledgements, and optional Authors’ information, with 'Not applicable' used for any non-relevant declaration.
References
References must follow Vancouver style. Only published, in-press, or publicly available preprint articles, clinical trial registration records, and abstracts may be cited; unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must be excluded from the reference list, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE, and web links must be numbered and included as full references with access dates.
Figures & Tables
Tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript, longer tables may be placed at the end with placement indicated in the text, oversized tables may be uploaded separately, and figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript while figures are uploaded separately in citation order. Figures and tables must be numbered in the order first cited, multi-panel figures must be submitted as a single composite file, tables must be created using the word processor’s table function rather than embedded as figures or spreadsheets, and color or shading must not be used in tables.

Figures must be numbered and uploaded in first-citation order with multipanel figures submitted as one composite file, and tables must be numbered in sequence, created using the table function, and not embedded as figures or spreadsheet files.
Case Report
Cover Letter
Cover letter is required. Cover letter must describe how the case report is rare or unusual and its educational and/or scientific merits, declare any potential competing interests, confirm that all authors approved submission, and explain any issues relating to journal policies.

Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Case presentation, and Conclusions.
Manuscript
Manuscript must include a title page, Background, Case presentation, Discussion and Conclusions, and a Declarations section with the required subheadings. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, an Availability of data and materials statement, and Declarations subheadings retained with 'Not applicable' where a section is irrelevant.

References must follow Vancouver style. Only published articles, clinical trial registration records, and abstracts available publicly may be cited, unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list, web links must be numbered and included in the reference list, and journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE.

Manuscript must begin with a brief first paragraph summarizing the message in non-specialist language, followed by the body of the article, which may be divided into short informative subsections. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords and a Declarations section with the subheadings Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, and Acknowledgements, with Authors' information optional and non-relevant subsections marked 'Not applicable'.
