Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain the importance of the work and its suitability for the journal’s readership, state that the submission is to the journal, provide the corresponding author’s affiliation and contact information, and include a competing interests statement.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must be structured.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 5,000 words excluding the abstract, references, and figure legends. Manuscript must contain an Additional Information section with the following sections in this order: Acknowledgements, Authors' contributions, Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Data availability, Competing interests, and Funding information. Manuscript must document any use of a large language model in the Methods section or, if no Methods section is available, in another suitable part of the manuscript.
References References are typically limited to 60. References must follow Vancouver style. References must be numbered sequentially in the text using square brackets, list all authors when there are up to six and the first six followed by et al. when there are more than six, and include first and last page numbers.
Figures & Tables A maximum of 6 tables and figures combined is allowed. Figures must not be embedded in the text and each table must be uploaded separately. Figures must be labelled sequentially and cited in the text, and tables must be editable and cited in the text in the correct order.
