Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required only if requesting multiple first authors or equal contributions, which must be clearly stated at submission. The cover letter must clearly state any request for multiple first authors or equal contributions.
Abstract An abstract is required for Original Articles. The abstract must not exceed 400 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must be divided into Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 4500 words excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures. The manuscript must be divided into Title page, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Acknowledgements. The manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, and additional figures, tables, and references beyond the main limits should be submitted as supplement.
References Original Articles may include up to 40 references. References must be cited in the text by numbers in square brackets and include author names, source title, article title where applicable, year, volume and issue or chapter, and pagination.
Figures & Tables Original Articles may include up to 8 figures and/or tables, and any additional figures or tables should be submitted as supplement. Figure captions must be included in the manuscript text file rather than in the figure file. Figures beyond 6 sub-sections must be published in an online supplement.
