The Journal of Oral Biosciences (JOB) is the official journal of the Japanese Association for Oral Biology and is published quarterly in addition to a supplementary issue for the Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for Oral Biology. It is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the advancement and dissemination of fundamental knowledge across oral biosciences, including cariology research, craniofacial biology, dental materials, implant biology, geriatric oral biology, microbiology/immunology and infection control, mineralized tissue, neuroscience, oral oncology, periodontal research, pharmacology, pulp biology, salivary research, artificial intelligence and related fields.

Original Article

Cover Letter Authors must address any prior publication in the cover letter by acknowledging it and indicating willingness to provide the dissertation and a link to the material if required.
Abstract Abstract is required for Original Articles. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 3,500 words excluding ethical approval, conflicts of interest, acknowledgement, references, tables, figures, and figure legends. Manuscript should ordinarily include the sections Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. Highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points must be submitted in a separate editable file, 3 to 5 keywords must appear immediately after the abstract, and any use of generative AI must be declared in a section before the references.
References References are limited to 50. Citations must be numbered in square brackets in the text, references must be listed in order of appearance, and references with more than six authors must list the first six followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Original Articles may include no more than 8 tables, figures, and figure legends in total. Each figure must be submitted as a separate file, captions must be supplied separately, and tables must be submitted as editable text.
