Research Papers

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must be 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Objectives, Methods, Results, and Discussion.
Manuscript The manuscript should contain a maximum of 6000 words. Research Papers must be divided into Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. The manuscript must include a word count, page numbers, line numbers, a disclosure statement under the heading Disclosure of interest, a generative AI use statement, and a data availability statement before the References section.
References Research Papers should contain no more than 25 references. NLM References must follow the NLM uniform requirements reference guide.
Figures & Tables Research Papers should contain 6 to 8 illustrations and no more than 6 tables. Figures must be saved separately from the text, tables and figures must be shown in the manuscript text where they should appear, and captions must be supplied separately from figures. Figures should be high quality at 1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale, and 300 dpi for colour, and tables must be editable and interpretable without reference to the text.

Review Articles

Manuscript Review Articles should be a maximum of 7500 words. The manuscript should follow the order title page, abstract, keywords, main text, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices as appropriate, tables, figures, and figure captions. A word count, up to 8 keywords, a disclosure statement, a generative AI use statement, and a short biographical note for each author must be included.
References References must follow the NLM uniform requirements reference guide. References must be listed after the declaration of interest statement and should cite relevant, timely, and verified literature.
Figures & Tables Review Articles may have up to 6 to 8 figures. Figures must be saved separately from the text, and tables with captions must be supplied on individual pages. Figures should be high quality and tables should be editable.

Case Studies

Manuscript Case Studies should not exceed 2500 words. Case Studies should describe a single patient case. No more than 8 keywords are allowed, and the manuscript must include a declaration of interest statement, a generative AI use statement, a data availability statement, and a short biographical note for each author.
References References must follow the NLM uniform requirements reference guide. Relevant, timely, and verified literature should be cited, and excessive or inappropriate self-citation should be avoided.
Figures & Tables Case Studies may contain a maximum of 4 figures. Figures must be saved separately from the text. Figures should be used only when relevant and valuable, and tables should present new information and be interpretable without reference to the text.
