Submission Instructions

Acta Biomaterialia accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Original Research Reports

Cover Letter Submission implies that publication is approved by all authors and by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out.
Abstract An abstract is required for Original Research Reports. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections including separate Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, and Discussion sections. The manuscript must include a graphical abstract submitted separately, four to five keywords after the abstract, a Statement of Significance limited to 120 words, a Disclosures section before the references, and an AI declaration section before the references when AI was used in writing.
References References must use a numbered citation style with square-bracketed citations in the text. The reference list must be numbered in the order of first appearance in the text and include all author names and article titles for cited articles.
