Acta Dermato-Venereologica publishes manuscripts in dermatology and venereology covering new observations in basic dermatological and venereological research as well as clinical investigations. Each volume features original articles in special areas and short communications to stimulate debate and disseminate important clinical observations. The journal has eISSN 1651-2057 and is published by Medical Journals Sweden AB under the Creative Commons CC-BY-NC 4.0 license.

Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must briefly explain the manuscript’s impact and novelty and certify that it is not under consideration elsewhere and that no part has been published elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must be unstructured and written with no headlines. Abstract must state the reason for the study, purpose, methods, the most important findings, and the single most important finding as the conclusion.
Manuscript Original Articles have a word limit of 3,000 words. Manuscript must be divided into Title page, Abstract, Significance, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Data availability statement, Ethics declarations and trial registry information, Disclosure statements, References, Tables, and Figures/illustrations. Manuscript must include a significance statement of up to 100 words and 3–6 MeSH keywords on the title page.
References References must be numbered consecutively, cited in the text within brackets, include only published findings or manuscripts in press, add DOI when available, list all authors if six or fewer, and list the first six followed by et al. if more than six.
Figures & Tables Tables must be included as editable files in the manuscript file, while figures must be submitted as separate files and also included on the last page of the manuscript with figure legends. Tables must present new information and be interpretable without the text, and each graph, drawing, or photograph must be numbered in sequence with Arabic numerals.

Review Articles

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. The abstract must be unstructured and written with no headlines. The abstract must state the reason that prompted the study, purpose, methods, the most important findings, and the single most important finding as the conclusion.
Manuscript Review Articles have a word limit of 4,000 words. The manuscript file must be divided into Title page, Abstract, Significance, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Data availability statement, Ethics declarations and trial registry information, Disclosure statements, References, Tables, and Figures/illustrations. The manuscript must include a significance statement of no more than 100 words, 3–6 MeSH keywords on the title page, a strengths and limitations section, and ORCID identifiers for all authors, and it must not assign authorship or co-authorship to LLMs or other machine learning technologies.
References Review Articles have a maximum of 100 references. References must be consecutively numbered and cited in the text by number within brackets. If there are six or fewer authors all must be listed, if there are more than six the first six must be listed followed by et al., only published findings and manuscripts in press may be included, and DOI numbers must be added when available.
Figures & Tables Tables must be provided as editable files in the manuscript file, and figures must be submitted as separate files and also included on the last page of the manuscript with figure legends. Tables must present new information and be interpretable without reference to the text, and each table must have a brief title while each graph, drawing, or photograph must be numbered in sequence with Arabic numerals.

Short Communication

Manuscript Short Communication manuscripts must not exceed 1,200 words. The manuscript should include Title page, Abstract, Significance, Introduction, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Disclosure statements, References, Tables, and Figures/illustrations, while Materials and methods and Results are not obligatory for all submissions such as case reports. The manuscript must include a significance statement of no more than 100 words, 3–6 MeSH keywords on the title page, a strengths and limitations section, and disclosure statements, and it must not assign authorship or co-authorship to LLMs or other machine learning technologies.
References References must be numbered consecutively and cited in the text with bracketed numbers, include only published works or manuscripts in press, add DOIs when available, list all authors when there are six or fewer, and list the first six followed by et al. when there are more than six.
Figures & Tables Tables must be provided as editable files in the manuscript file, while figures must be submitted as separate files and also included on the last page of the manuscript with their legends. Manuscript file must be divided into the following sections: Title page, Abstract, Significance, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Data availability statement, Ethics declarations and trial registry information, Disclosure statements, References, Tables, and Figures/illustrations. Manuscript must include a significance statement of no more than 100 words, and the title page must include the abstract word count, significance word count, manuscript word count, and 3–6 MeSH keywords.
References References must be consecutively numbered in the order cited in the text using bracketed numbers, list all authors when there are six or fewer and the first six followed by et al. when there are more than six, include DOI numbers when available, and include only published findings or manuscripts in press.
