Abstract Abstract is required for Original Articles. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Original Articles have a suggested manuscript limit of 3,500 words, excluding references, figure legends, tables, and supplemental data. Manuscript must be organized as Title page, Abstract, Introduction, Results, Discussion, Materials & Methods, Ethics Statement, Data Availability Statement, ORCiDs, Conflict of Interest Statement, Acknowledgments, Author Contributions Statement, Declaration of Generative AI Use, References, Tables, and Figure Legends. Manuscript must include an Author Contributions Statement using CRediT, a Conflict of Interest Statement, a Data Availability Statement, an ORCiDs section, and a Declaration of Generative AI Use, while a graphical abstract is optional and must be submitted separately if included.
References Original Articles have no reference limit. References must use JID author-year style. References must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically, use letters for same-author same-year items, list the first 6 authors followed by "et al." when there are more than 6, abbreviate journal names appropriately, and include DOIs where available.
Figures & Tables Original Articles have a suggested maximum of 6 figures and/or tables. Tables must be included in the text file, while figures must be submitted as separate individual image files rather than PDFs. Figure legends must provide a brief overall title and detailed legend of 125 words or fewer, and figures must be sequentially labeled and cited in the text.
