Trends in Molecular Medicine publishes concise and contextualized reviews and opinions on research at the interface between basic biology and clinical research, with emphasis on mechanisms of human biology and pathology that have implications for diagnostics, therapeutics, prevention, and human disease. The journal covers themes including disease mechanisms, tools and technologies, diagnostics, therapeutics, clinical trial landscape, science policy, and medical ethics, with a goal of bridging bench and bedside for a broad audience.

Review

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Review articles must include an abstract. Review abstracts must be 100–120 words.
Manuscript Review main text must be 3000–3500 words. Review articles should begin with a short introductory section of one or two paragraphs under a descriptive heading other than “Introduction” and end with a section entitled “Concluding Remarks.” Review articles must include at least four descriptive keywords, Highlights of 3–5 bullet points not exceeding 900 characters in a separate Word file, an Outstanding Questions box not exceeding 2000 characters in a separate Word file, a 200–400 word Clinician’s Corner of 4–5 bullet points, a declaration of interests section, and an AI declaration statement if generative AI was used in writing.
References Review articles must include no more than 100 references. References must be numbered in square brackets in order of appearance in the text, while websites should be cited in the main text in parentheses rather than included in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Review articles may contain up to six display elements, and only one Key Figure or one Key Table may be included, not both. Figures must be uploaded as separate files rather than embedded in the main text document, while tables must be included in the main manuscript file in Word format and not submitted as separate image files. Figure legends must have a short explanatory title, fully explain the figure without reference to the text, and be no more than 250 words, while tables must have a single-sentence title and no legend.
