Original Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required at submission.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be fewer than 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 5,000 words excluding the abstract, references, and table/figure legends. Main text must contain the sections Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscript must include three to nine MeSH or Index Medicus key words and declarations in the acknowledgments covering writing assistance, funding sources, study sponsor roles, competing interests, and substantial non-author contributions.
References References must not exceed 50. References must be cited with superscript Arabic numerals in numerical order. Reference list must appear at the end in numerical order, list all authors when there are six or fewer, list the first six followed by et al. when there are more than six, use Index Medicus/PubMed journal abbreviations, and follow the sequence authors, title, journal, year, volume, and inclusive pages.
Figures & Tables Original Articles must have fewer than 10 tables and figures in total. Each figure must be prepared as a separate digital file and uploaded separately.

Review Article

Cover Letter Cover letter is required at submission. Cover letter must state if papers closely related to the submission have been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be unstructured and no longer than 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript text is limited to 6,000 words excluding the abstract, references, and figure/table legends. Text should be written in free style and does not require Materials and Methods or Results sections. Include Key Words.
References References must not exceed 70. Brief Communication-specific instructions conflict on whether Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion subdivisions are required, so no single explicit structural format is stated. Include 3–6 keywords from Index Medicus or MeSH.
References References must be cited in consecutive superscript Arabic numerals and listed in numerical order, listing all authors when there are six or fewer and the first six followed by et al. when there are more than six.
Figures & Tables A paper may include up to 6 tables and figures. Each figure must be uploaded as a separate digital file.

Letter To The Editor

Abstract Abstract is not required for correspondence.
Manuscript Letter to the Editor must be no longer than 500 words. Letter to the Editor must have unstructured main content. Letter to the Editor must have a title distinct from the title of the referenced article.
References Letter to the Editor must include no more than seven references. References must be cited with superscript Arabic numerals in consecutive order and listed numerically at the end, listing all authors if six or fewer or the first six followed by et al. if more than six.
Figures & Tables Letter to the Editor may include only one graphic presentation. Each figure should be prepared as a separate digital file and uploaded separately.
