Research Articles

Cover Letter A covering letter may be included with your submission; if provided, it must not exceed 3000 characters.
Title Page Include a clear title that states the study design when appropriate, full author names and institutional addresses, and the corresponding author’s contact information. If a collaboration group is an author, list the group name on the title page and follow the group author instructions; document any LLM use in the Methods.
Abstract Provide a structured abstract of no more than 350 words with Background, Results, and Conclusions sections. Avoid citations and minimize abbreviations.
Main Manuscript Headings Organize the manuscript into Background, Methods (may follow Background), Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. Include a List of abbreviations and the required Declarations sections.
Reference Format Format references in Vancouver style. Web links and URLs should appear as numbered references with full site titles, URLs, and the date accessed.
Figures Upload figures as separate files in accepted formats; provide each figure’s title and legend within the main manuscript. Number figures in order of first mention and keep individual files under 10 MB.
Tables Insert short tables at the appropriate point in the manuscript and place very long tables at the end of the document; prepare using the word processor’s table function, not as figures or spreadsheets. Include a brief title above and a legend below each table.
Additional Documents Include the required Declarations (ethics, consent for publication, data availability, competing interests, funding, authors’ contributions, acknowledgements, authors’ information if desired). Supplementary datasets, large tables, or media may be submitted as additional files (max 20 MB each); do not upload consent forms unless requested.
