Original Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. It must include the article title, article type, corresponding author’s full name, a brief statement of the paper’s value, a conflict of interest statement, and a statement that the manuscript has not been published, accepted, or submitted elsewhere, and it must declare that all authors participated in the design, execution, and analysis of the paper.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 500 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Background, Aims, Study Design, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript The main text must not exceed 4000 words, excluding the abstract, references, tables, and figure legends. The main text must be organized with the sections Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, References, Tables, and Figure Legends. A graphical abstract must be uploaded, and use of any generative AI or AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation must be declared at submission.
References The manuscript must have no more than 50 references. ICMJE. References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited in the text, with journal titles abbreviated according to Index Medicus, and references with more than 6 authors listed as the first 3 authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Figures, graphics, and photographs must be submitted as separate files, and figures must not be embedded in the Word document. Tables must have descriptive titles above them and be created using the insert table command, and figures must be submitted as separate TIFF or JPEG files with each subunit separately rather than merged.

Invited Review Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. It must include the article title, article type, corresponding author’s full name, a brief explanation of the paper’s value, a conflict of interest statement, a statement that the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere, and a declaration that all authors participated in the design, execution, and analysis.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 500 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The main text must not exceed 5000 words, excluding references, tables, and figure legends. A graphical abstract must be uploaded, and use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation must be declared at submission.
References ICMJE. References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited, cited in the text with Arabic numerals in parentheses, use Index Medicus/Medline/PubMed journal abbreviations, and list the first 3 authors followed by et al. when there are more than 6 authors.
Figures & Tables Tables belong in the main document, while figures, graphics, and photographs must be uploaded as separate files and not embedded in a Word document. Tables must be referred to in the text and numbered consecutively with descriptive titles above them, and figures must be submitted separately with at least 300 DPI and minimum dimensions of 100 x 100 mm.

Brief Reports

Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured. Aims, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript The main text must be less than 2000 words. The main document must contain the main text, reference list, tables, and figure legends. A graphical abstract must be uploaded, and use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools in manuscript preparation must be declared at submission.
References The manuscript must have no more than 20 references. ICMJE. References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited in the text, cited with Arabic numerals in parentheses, use Index Medicus/Medline/PubMed journal abbreviations, and list only the first 3 authors followed by et al. when there are more than 6 authors.
Figures & Tables There must be no more than 3 display items consisting of tables or figures. Figures must be submitted separately and not embedded in a Word document, and tables must be included in the manuscript. Tables must be referred to in the text and numbered consecutively, figures must be submitted as separate TIFF or JPEG files, and each figure must have at least 300 DPI and minimum dimensions of 100 x 100 mm.

A graphical abstract must be uploaded, use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools must be declared at submission, and sex and/or gender should be represented as a variable where applicable.
References References must not exceed 300. ICMJE. References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited, cited in text with Arabic numerals in parentheses, use Index Medicus/Medline/PubMed journal abbreviations, and list the first 3 authors followed by et al. when there are more than 6 authors.

References No more than 10 references are allowed. ICMJE References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited in the text, and if a reference has more than 6 authors, list the first 3 followed by et al.
Figures & Tables No more than 1 figure and/or table is allowed. Figures must be uploaded as separate files and must not be embedded in the Word document. Any information that might identify the patient or hospital, including the date, must be removed from the image.
