British Medical Bulletin is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Reviews

Cover Letter Any use of artificial intelligence to help generate content or images, write code, process data, or provide translation must be disclosed in the cover letter.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must include Introduction or background, Sources of data, Areas of agreement, Areas of controversy, Growing points, and Areas timely for developing research.
Manuscript Published papers should be approximately 14 pages in length, including the abstract, all figures and tables, and references. Text should follow a similar general format to the abstract and include a discussion or conclusions section expanding on areas of agreement, controversy, growing points, and areas timely for developing research. The manuscript must include at least 3 keywords, acknowledgements, a brief author description of up to 100 words, and disclosure of any use of artificial intelligence in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
References References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited as superscript Arabic numerals, with more than 4 journal authors shortened to the first 3 followed by 'et al' and journal titles abbreviated according to Index Medicus.
Figures & Tables Figures must not be incorporated into the main text for online submission and low-resolution figure files must be uploaded separately. All images must include alt text placed directly under the relevant figure legend and preceded by 'Alt text:', while figures and tables must be numbered consecutively and tables must carry a descriptive heading above each table.
