Clinical Microbiology and Infection is a monthly English-language journal of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases published by Elsevier. It publishes peer-reviewed papers on basic and applied research relevant to therapy and diagnostics in microbiology, infectious diseases, virology, parasitology, immunology, and epidemiology, along with theme issues, editorials, commentaries, reviews, and guidelines. The journal was established in 1995.

Clinical Microbiology and Infection is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Original Article

Cover Letter No cover letter requirement is specified.
Abstract Abstract is required and must be structured, with a maximum of 300 words. Use the headings Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 2500 words. Text must be divided into Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. Include an authors’ contributions paragraph using CRediT and a Transparency declaration before the references.
References Maximum 30 references. Use Vancouver Numbered style, with references numbered in the order cited in the text. Include DOIs in references.
