Current Opinion in Behavioral Sciences publishes invited short annotated reviews by leading experts on recent developments in the behavioral sciences. The journal organizes special issues around topics of scientific and societal interest and brings together international experts using diverse methodologies and perspectives. It publishes six issues per year, including recurring category-based issues and hot topics issues.

Current Opinion In Behavioral Sciences is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Review Articles must include a concise and factual abstract. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Review Articles must not exceed 2000 words excluding the abstract, references, and figure captions. Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined sections using headings, and the reference section must include the text "References and recommended reading" followed by the statements "Papers of particular interest, published within the period of review, have been highlighted as:" "* of special interest" and "** of outstanding interest." Review Articles must provide 1 to 7 English keywords, include article highlights submitted as a separate editable file named with "highlights" consisting of 3 to 5 bullet points of no more than 85 characters each, and add an AI-use declaration section before the references if generative AI was used in manuscript preparation.
References Review Articles are limited to 50 references, with self-citations not exceeding 20% of the total and at least 10% of references annotated as papers of special or outstanding interest. Citations must appear as numbers in square brackets, references must be numbered in order of appearance, list the first 6 authors followed by "et al." when there are more than 6 authors, use LTWA journal abbreviations, and annotated references from the past 2 years must include a brief description of the major findings and importance of the study.
Figures & Tables Review Articles must include no more than 4 tables or figures and must contain at least one figure summarizing the main concepts discussed. Figures and other graphical media must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be editable text rather than images and include captions, and all figures and tables must be cited in the manuscript text and numbered consecutively in order of appearance.
