Mechanisms Of Ageing And Development

Mechanisms of Ageing and Development is a multidisciplinary journal aimed at revealing the molecular, biochemical and biological mechanisms that underlie the processes of ageing and development in various species as well as age-associated diseases. Emphasis is placed on studies addressing underlying mechanisms, including macromolecular damage and cytotoxicity, genetic programs, epigenetics and genetic instability, mitochondrial function, metabolic alterations, and innovative anti-aging approaches. The journal publishes original research, review and mini-review articles and is the official journal of the European Society of Preventive, Regenerative and Anti-aging Medicine.

Submission Instructions

Mechanisms Of Ageing And Development accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Research Papers

Cover Letter A cover letter is required and should explain how the research is linked with previously published work. The cover letter should explain how the research is linked with previously published work.
Abstract Research Papers must include a summary. The summary must be 100–200 words. The summary format is not explicitly stated as structured or unstructured.
Manuscript Research Papers are usually subdivided into sections such as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion. The submission must include 1 to 7 keywords in English, 3 to 5 highlights in a separate editable file, a declaration of generative AI use in a section before the references if applicable, and acknowledgements in a separate section directly before the references.
References Citations in the text must use author name and year. References may be in any consistent style at submission and must be listed alphabetically, then chronologically if needed, with letters added for same-author same-year items.
Figures & Tables Tables must be included as editable text and figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be cited, numbered consecutively, and include captions, and figures must be cited, numbered in sequence, and include captions explaining symbols and abbreviations.

Reviews

Cover Letter Cover letter should explain how the research is linked with previously published work.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract should be unstructured and able to stand alone.
Manuscript Article should be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. Submission must include 1 to 7 keywords, 3 to 5 article highlights submitted as a separate editable file, and a generative AI declaration statement placed in a new section before the references when AI was used in manuscript preparation.
References In-text citations must use author name and year, and the reference list must be alphabetical and then chronological. References may be in any consistent style at submission and must include core bibliographic details, with same-year works by the same author distinguished as a, b, c, and so on.
Figures & Tables Figures must be supplied as separate files, while tables must be submitted as editable text. All figures and tables must be cited in the text, numbered in order of appearance, and provided with captions.

Short Communication

Cover Letter Cover letter should explain how the research is linked with previously published work.
Abstract A short abstract is required. Abstract should be about 100 words. Abstract structure is not specified.
Manuscript Short Communication submissions must not exceed 1,000 words. Text should be continuous and should not be subdivided into different sections as in regular articles. Submission must include 1 to 7 keywords in English, 3 to 5 highlights as a separate editable file, and a generative AI use statement in a section before the references if such tools were used in manuscript preparation.
References Text citations should use author name and year. References may be in any consistent style at submission and should be listed alphabetically and then chronologically if needed.
Figures & Tables Figures must be uploaded as separate files, while table placement is not explicitly stated beyond submission as editable text. Tables must be editable text with captions, and all figures and tables must be cited and numbered in the order they appear.
