Full-Length Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for Full-Length Articles. The cover letter must address manuscript originality, justify any deletion of a required abstract section, confirm permission from all acknowledged individuals, and for manuscripts with original data include a statement from the principal investigator or corresponding author accepting responsibility for data access, integrity, analysis accuracy, and the decision to submit.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Full-Length Articles and must be uploaded separately from the manuscript text file. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. The abstract must be structured into 7 sections. The abstract must include Objective or Purpose, Design, Subjects, Participants and/or Controls, Methods, Intervention or Testing, Main Outcome Measures, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The manuscript text file must include the title page, manuscript text, Acknowledgement/Disclosure section, appendices if required, references, and a figure captions or legend page. The submission must include 1 to 7 keywords, 3 to 5 highlights submitted as a separate editable file, a completed declarations tool with competing interest information, an Acknowledgement section between the text and references, CRediT author contribution roles, and if applicable a generative AI declaration in a new section before the references.
References References must follow current AMA format. References must include a DOI if available and any source cited in the article must appear in the reference list and vice versa.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures must be uploaded individually as separate files, and figure captions or legends must be provided separately rather than on the figure while table titles and legends must appear with the corresponding table file. Tables must be submitted as editable text and all figures and tables must be cited and numbered consecutively in the manuscript with captions or legends provided.

The cover letter should explain why the review question is important to clinicians or users, including patients and policymakers, and present the expertise of team members with clinical, systematic review methods, and statistical expertise.
