Review

Cover Letter If a review manuscript exceeds the 5000-word limit, the cover letter must state the final word count and explicit reasons for exceeding the limit.
Abstract Reviews must include an abstract. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Reviews have a 5000-word limit. Narrative reviews should justify the article's importance for the readership, state concrete aims or formulate questions, describe the literature search in detail including search terms and inclusion criteria, support key statements with references, demonstrate scientific reasoning, and present data appropriately. Review articles should include a box summarising "Points for clinical practice" and/or "Questions for future research," and at least 1 keyword and no more than 6 keywords are allowed.
References Review articles should not exceed 200 references in total. References must conform to Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in the order first cited in square brackets and must list the first three authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Reviews are limited to 5 tables and figures combined. Tables must be inserted into the main text before the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files and their captions provided during upload or at the end of the manuscript. Figures should be limited to a maximum of four panels, and each table and figure must have a clear footnote or caption defining all abbreviations and symbols used.

Original Research Articles

Cover Letter If the article exceeds 3000 words, the cover letter must state the final word count and explicit reasons for exceeding the limit.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured as four separate paragraphs. Abstract must cover the question addressed by the study, materials/patients and methods, results, and the answer to the question.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 3000 words excluding the abstract, references, tables and figure captions. Manuscript must include at least 1 and no more than 6 keywords.
References References must conform to Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first appearance in the text using full-sized Arabic numerals in square brackets and list the first three authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Original Research Articles must include no more than eight figures and/or tables in total. Tables must be inserted into the main text document before the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files and not included in the main manuscript text document. Each figure must have a clear caption and single figures with multiple panels must use no more than four panels labelled a), b), c) and d).

Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 250 words.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 2500 words. Mini-Reviews should include a detailed description of the literature search, including search terms and inclusion criteria. Manuscript must include a take-home message of up to 256 characters and 1 to 6 keywords.
References Mini-Review must not exceed 50 references. References must follow Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in the order first cited in the text and list the first three authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Mini-Review may include a maximum combined total of 4 figures and tables. Tables must be inserted into the main text before the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files. Single figures with multiple panels must use no more than four panels.

Figures & Tables Correspondence may include one figure or one table. Tables must be inserted into the main text before the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files and their captions provided during upload or at the end of the manuscript. Correspondence figures must be limited to four panels labelled A-D, with a single-panel figure preferred.

Research Letters

Cover Letter Cover letter must state that neither the work nor any part of its essential substance, tables or figures have been or will be published or submitted to another scientific journal or are being considered for publication elsewhere.
Abstract Abstract is not permitted for Research Letters.
Manuscript Research Letters should not exceed 1200 words, excluding references, tables and figure captions. At least 1 keyword and no more than 6 keywords are required, and the title page must include a take-home message of no more than 256 characters including spaces.
References Research Letters should have no more than 15 references. References must conform to Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first appearance in the text using Arabic numerals in square brackets and list the first three authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Research Letters may include one figure or one table. Figures must be uploaded as separate files rather than included in the main manuscript text, while tables must be inserted into the main text document before the references and not supplied separately. Figures in Research Letters must be limited to four panels labelled a–d.

Interactive Case Reports

Cover Letter Cover letter must state that the work and its essential substance, tables, and figures have not been and will not be published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Interactive Case Reports may be up to 3000 words excluding references, tables, and figures. Interactive Case Reports must be presented chronologically with interactive questions and explanatory answers and must conclude with a discussion of the case and related general topics. Include at least 1 and no more than 6 keywords.
References References must follow Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first appearance in the text and list the first three authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Figures may contain no more than four panels. Tables must be included in the main text before the references, while figures must be uploaded as separate files rather than embedded in the manuscript. Each table must have a footnote defining all abbreviations and symbols used.
