European Review of Aging and Physical Activity (EURAPA) is an open access journal that provides a global forum for research on the relationships between aging and physical activity across biomedical and behavioral sciences. Its scope spans basic physiology, exercise science, brain and cognition, clinical and health sciences, gerontology, ethics and philosophy, and research methods. It is the official journal of the European Group for Research on Aging and Physical Activity (EGRAPA).

European Review of Aging and Physical Activity is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published, address any journal policy issues, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved the submission, and confirm the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions, and Trial registration.
Manuscript Manuscript should be no more than 4500 words excluding references. Manuscript must include a separate title page and a main manuscript file without the title page, competing interests, authors’ contributions, acknowledgements, or authors’ information, and it must include a Declarations section. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and Declarations subsections for Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, Acknowledgements, and optional Authors' information, using 'Not applicable' where a section is irrelevant, and any use of a Large Language Model must be documented in the Methods section or a suitable alternative part of the manuscript.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and publicly available preprints may be cited, unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list, and web links or URLs must be cited with a reference number and listed in full with title, URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables Tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript, longer tables may be placed at the end of the text file, and figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript rather than in the graphic files. Figures and tables must be numbered in the order first cited in the text, multi-panel figures must be submitted as a single composite file, tables must not be embedded as figures or spreadsheets, and footnotes must be used instead of endnotes.

Review Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required and, under double-anonymous peer review, must also include the title page, competing interests, authors’ contributions, and acknowledgements instead of placing them in the main manuscript file. The cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published, explain any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved submission, confirm the work has not been published or submitted elsewhere, and name the special issue if applicable.

Manuscript Review articles should have no more than 6000 words excluding references. The manuscript should include a Background section and a Conclusions section, and it must include a Declarations section. The manuscript must include three to ten keywords, an Availability of data and materials statement, a Competing interests section, an Authors' contributions section using author initials, and documentation of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Web links and URLs must be assigned a reference number and included in the reference list rather than placed in the text.
Figures & Tables Tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript, while tables longer than one page may be placed at the end of the text file with their intended position indicated in the text. Tables must be created using the word processor’s Table object and must not be embedded as figures or spreadsheet files.

Brief Report

Cover Letter A cover letter is required and must also contain the title page, competing interests, authors’ contributions, acknowledgements, and authors’ information because these must not appear in the main manuscript file. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published, address any journal policy issues, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved submission, confirm the work has not been published or submitted elsewhere, and include the title page plus blinded items removed from the manuscript.
Abstract A brief abstract is required for a Brief Report. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract is unstructured. No mandatory abstract headings are specified.
Manuscript Manuscript must be no more than 1500 words excluding references. Manuscript must be prepared for double-blind peer review, exclude the title page from the main file, and include a Declarations section. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and a Declarations section with the subheadings Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, Acknowledgements, and Authors' information (optional), with any irrelevant section labeled 'Not applicable', and any Large Language Model use documented in Methods or a suitable alternative section.
References References must use Vancouver style. Web links and URLs must be cited with a reference number and included in the reference list in full, unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list, and publicly available datasets relied on by the article should be cited with a persistent identifier such as a DOI expressed as a full URL.
Figures & Tables Brief Reports may include at most one figure and at most one table.
