Original Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must describe how the work contributes to the journal’s mission and scope, disclose conflicts of interest, and disclose any use of AI to help generate content, write code, or process data.
Abstract An unstructured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 8,000 words. Manuscript must use the first-level section headers Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, and Discussion, although Results and Discussion may be combined. Manuscript must include 3 to 5 keywords, may include up to 4 Key Points of one sentence each and no more than 300 characters each, and must disclose any use of AI in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
References References are limited to a maximum of 40. APA author-date citation style is used. References may be submitted in any readable style at initial submission.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include up to 6 figures and 6 tables, with a combined maximum of 12. Tables must be placed at the end of the main text, while figures must be uploaded as separate individual files with titles, legends, and captions included in the manuscript file. Tables must be supplied in an editable format and all images, figures, illustrations, and photographs must include alt text directly under the relevant figure legend in the manuscript file.

Critical Review

All identifying information must be removed from the manuscript and placed with author information and back matter sections in a separate title page. The manuscript must include 3 to 5 keywords, may include up to 4 one-sentence Key Points of no more than 300 characters each, and must disclose any use of AI in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
References References are limited to a maximum of 60. APA author-date citation style is required. References may be submitted in any readable style at initial submission.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include a maximum of 6 figures and 6 tables, or 12 total. All tables must be placed at the end of the main text. Figure titles, legends, and captions must be included within the manuscript file rather than in the image files, and tables must be supplied in an editable format rather than as image files.

Manuscript Brief Communications must not exceed 4,400 words. The manuscript must include 3 to 5 keywords. The manuscript may include up to 4 Key Points, each limited to one sentence and no more than 300 characters.
References References are limited to a maximum of 40. The journal uses APA author-date citation style. References may be in any readable style at initial submission but must be formatted in APA style for revision.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include a maximum of 6 figures and 6 tables, or 12 total. Tables must be placed at the end of the main text, and figure titles, legends, and captions must be included within the manuscript file rather than in the image files. Tables must be supplied in an editable format and numbered and cited in chronological order, and alt text for each figure must appear in the manuscript directly under the relevant figure legend preceded by "Alt text:".

Manuscript Letters to the Editor must not exceed 2,200 words. All identifying information must be removed from the manuscript and placed in a separate title page, and the letter will only be considered if it pertains to a paper published in the past two years. No keywords are required, and any use of AI to help generate content, write code, or process data must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgements section of the manuscript.
References References are limited to a maximum of 10. APA author-date style is used. References may be submitted in any readable style at initial submission.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include a maximum of one table or figure. Tables must be placed at the end of the main text, while figure titles, legends, and captions must be included within the manuscript file and each figure must be submitted as a separate file. Tables must be supplied in an editable format rather than as images, and alt text must be provided in the manuscript directly under each relevant figure legend.
