Cover Letter
A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published, address any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved submission, and confirm the content has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract
An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions, and Trial registration.
Manuscript
Manuscript must include the section headings Title page, Abstract, Keywords, Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, List of abbreviations, and Declarations. Manuscript must include 3 to 10 keywords, document any use of a Large Language Model in the Methods or another suitable section, and include a Declarations section with all listed subheadings even if some are marked 'Not applicable'.
References
Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and publicly available preprints may be cited in the reference list, unpublished abstracts/data and personal communications must be excluded, and web links must appear there as full references with title, URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables
Figure titles and legends must appear in the main manuscript rather than the image files, tables under one page may be placed within the manuscript while larger tables may be placed at the end, and the graphical abstract must be submitted separately as a supplementary file. Multi-panel figures must be uploaded as single composite files, table titles and legends must not exceed 15 and 300 words respectively, and the graphical abstract file must be named 'Graphical Abstract' and submitted in JPG, PNG, or SVG format.
