Journal of Human Hypertension accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Article

Cover Letter Cover letter is required. Cover letter must provide the corresponding author's affiliation and contact information, briefly explain the importance of the work and its suitability for the journal's diverse readership, and confirm that the submission is original research.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be unstructured and no more than 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Main body text must not exceed 4,000 words, excluding the abstract, tables/figures, and references. Manuscript must include a title page, abstract, introduction, materials (or patients) and methods, results, discussion, data availability statement, references, acknowledgments, author contributions, competing interests, figure legends, tables, and figures. Manuscript must include a Summary Table with sections titled 'What is known about topic' and 'What this study adds', each containing two or three bullet points of one or two short sentences, and any use of a large language model must be disclosed in the Methods section or a suitable alternative section.
References References are limited to a maximum of 35. References must follow Vancouver format. References must be numbered in order of citation and listed in numerical order, with up to six authors named in full and more than six abbreviated to the first six followed by et al.
Figures & Tables A maximum of 8 tables or figures is allowed. Figures must not be embedded in the text and must be uploaded as separate files, and each table must be uploaded separately. Figure legends must be brief and specific and placed on a separate manuscript page after the references.

Review Article

Cover Letter Cover letter is required. Cover letter must provide the corresponding author's affiliation and contact information, briefly explain the importance of the work, explain its suitability for the journal's diverse readership, and confirm that the material is original research.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be unstructured and no more than 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured. Abstract must concisely state the aim of the review, the main findings, and the implications.
Manuscript Main body text must not exceed 4,000 words excluding the abstract, tables and figures, and references. Manuscript must include a search strategy, tables summarizing the literature, and a clinical implications section where relevant. Manuscript should include flow charts and figures illustrating mechanistic pathways and/or management strategies where relevant, and any use of a large language model must be disclosed in a suitable part of the manuscript.
References References may not exceed 90. References must follow Vancouver format. References must be numbered in order of citation and listed in numerical order, with up to six authors listed in full and more than six authors abbreviated after the first six with et al.
Figures & Tables Figures must be uploaded as separate files rather than embedded in the text, and each table must be uploaded separately. Figure legends must be brief and specific and placed on a separate manuscript page after the references, and review articles must include tables summarizing the literature on the topic.

Letter

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must include the corresponding author's affiliation and contact information, briefly discuss the importance of the work, explain its suitability for the journal's diverse readership, and confirm originality, prior non-publication, and that it is not under consideration elsewhere.
Abstract A separate formal abstract is not required because the abstract consists of 2 or 3 bold overview sentences placed after the title page. Abstract must consist of 2 or 3 sentences. Abstract must be unstructured and presented as 2 or 3 bold overview sentences after the title page rather than as a separate paragraph. No abstract headings are required.
Manuscript Main body text must not exceed 1,200 words excluding abstract, tables or figures, and references. Manuscript must be written as continuous text with paragraphs and no subheadings, and after the title page it must begin with 2 or 3 bold overview sentences serving as the abstract. Manuscript must include an extra Summary Table with the two parts 'What is known about topic' and 'What this study adds', each containing 2 or 3 bullet points of 1 or 2 short sentences, and any use of a large language model must be documented in a suitable part of the manuscript.
References References must not exceed 12. References must follow Vancouver format. References must be cited in the text as numbered citations starting at 1 and listed in numerical order, with up to six authors listed in full and more than six abbreviated to the first six followed by et al.
Figures & Tables A maximum of 1 table or figure is allowed. Figures must not be embedded within the text and must be uploaded as separate files, and each table must be uploaded separately. An additional Summary Table is required with the sections 'What is known about topic' and 'What this study adds', each containing 2 or 3 bullet points of 1 or 2 short sentences.

Correspondence

Figures & Tables Correspondence submissions may include a maximum of one table or figure. Figures must not be embedded within the text and must be uploaded as separate files. Figure legends must appear on a separate manuscript page after the References section.

Case Reports must be submitted as Correspondence and should present a very unusual case with a learning point or significant contribution to understanding of hypertension. Use of a large language model must be documented in the Methods section or, if no Methods section is available, in a suitable alternative part of the manuscript, and the manuscript must include an Author Contributions section and a Funding section.
References Reference list must not exceed 10 references. References must follow Vancouver format. In-text citations must be numbered consecutively from 1 and the reference list must be presented in numerical order, listing up to six authors in full and the first six followed by et al. for more than six authors.
Figures & Tables A maximum of 1 table or figure is permitted. Figures must not be embedded within the text and must be uploaded as separate files. Figure legends must be brief and specific and placed on a separate manuscript page after the references.
