Research Article

Cover Letter Cover letter is required. Cover letter must describe the knowledge gap addressed, discuss the research significance and implications, and explain how the manuscript fits the journal scope and makes a unique contribution.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion, and it must not include bibliographic references or references to figures or tables.
Manuscript Research Article manuscripts are typically 5000 words in length. Manuscript must include Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. Manuscript must include 3–5 keywords, a short title for the running head, a corresponding author e-mail address, a statements section before the references, and any use of generative AI must be declared in the Methods or Acknowledgements.
References References must be cited sequentially using Arabic numerals in square brackets. Reference list must contain only cited works, be numbered in citation order, list up to 6 authors before adding et al., and present authors as surnames followed by initials.
Figures & Tables Research Articles typically include 4 to 8 tables and figures. Each table and each figure must be uploaded as a separate file, and figure legends must appear at the end of the manuscript text. Tables must be editable and prepared in Word, and all figure panels for a single figure must be combined into one file.

Review Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must describe the knowledge gap addressed, discuss the implications and significance for the Editor, explain fit with the journal scope, emphasize the manuscript’s unique contribution, and name any special issue or article collection and inviter if applicable.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Summary, and Key Messages.
Manuscript Review Articles are typically 5000 words in length. Review Articles must include a critical discussion of the reported data and a clear conclusion with potential impacts on the standard of care. Manuscript must include 3–5 keywords, a statements section before the references, and a declaration of any generative AI use in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
References References must be cited sequentially using Arabic numerals in square brackets. Reference list must be numbered in citation order, include only cited works, list up to 6 authors before adding “et al.,” and give authors’ surnames followed by initials.
Figures & Tables Review Articles typically include 4 to 8 tables and figures. Each table and each figure must be uploaded as a separate file, with figure legends placed at the end of the manuscript text. Tables must be editable Word files rather than images.

Abstract A short abstract is required. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion and must not include bibliographic references or references to figures or tables.
Manuscript Brief Reports are typically 3000 words in length. Brief Reports should follow the same structure as full-length research articles and include Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. Manuscript must include 3–5 keywords, a statements section after the main text and before the references, and a clear declaration of any generative AI use in the Methods or Acknowledgements section as applicable.
References References must be cited sequentially using Arabic numerals in square brackets. Reference list must contain only cited works in numerical order, list up to 6 authors before adding et al., and present authors as surnames followed by initials.
Figures & Tables Brief Reports may include up to 3 tables and figures. Tables and figures must be uploaded as separate files, with figure legends included at the end of the manuscript text. Figures must be cited in text as Figure outside brackets and Fig. in brackets, and figure legends must begin with Fig. followed by the number.
