Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter should introduce the paper and explain why the work is important and suitable for publication at this time, and it must specify whether any submitted video should be published in-article or as supplementary data.
Abstract An abstract is required. Not more than 250 words. Unstructured.
Manuscript Limited to 5000 words. Title Page, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Declaration of interest, Funding and Acknowledgements, References, Statistical analysis, Tables, Figures, Videos, and 'Omics' papers guidance where applicable. The title page must show the word count, include all authors' names and full addresses, include the corresponding author's postal and email address, include a short title, and the manuscript must include a declaration of interest, funding statement, and AI disclosure statement.
References No more than 60 references. Vancouver. References must be numbered in the order cited in the text, use numerical in-text citation, include at least three authors before et al., and match the reference list exactly to the citations used in the text.
Figures & Tables No more than 10 figures. Figures and tables must be numbered in citation order, figures need legends and scale bars where applicable, tables need titles and footnotes, and research article figures should preferably be provided as EPS or TIFF files.
