Mycotoxin Research is the official publication of the Society for Mycotoxin Research. It is a peer-reviewed international journal focused on all aspects of toxic fungal metabolites and welcomes interdisciplinary submissions in ecology, genetics, human and animal health, food and feed safety, and environmental safety, including work on mycotoxinogenic fungi, occurrence, analytical methods, toxicology, and public health implications. It presents original research papers and review articles.

Original Papers

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words.
Manuscript Authors submitting an unusually extensive paper of more than 12000 words must contact the editor in advance. Manuscript must include the sections Title page, Abstract, Keywords, List of abbreviations, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgement, References, List of figures, Tables, and Figures in that order, with Results and Discussion permitted to be combined. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, a Data Availability Statement explaining access to supporting data with links or citations to publicly archived datasets, a disclosure statement, relevant declarations under a 'Statements and Declarations' or 'Declarations' section before the references, and disclosure of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or another suitable section.
References References must be cited in the text by name and year, listed alphabetically by the first author's last name, include all authors' names except that et al. may be used only for author lists longer than 12, and include full DOI links where available.
Figures & Tables If possible, the submission should be a single file, with tables, figures, and any supplementary material placed after the reference list rather than inserted in the main body, although figures may be submitted within the body of the text if file size causes upload problems. Each table and figure must be on a separate page, numbered with Arabic numerals in consecutive order, cited consecutively in the text, and accompanied by a caption, with figure captions included in the manuscript text file rather than the figure files.

Manuscript must include Title page, Abstract, Keywords, List of abbreviations, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgement, References, List of figures, Tables, and Figures, although Review Articles may modify the order with regard to the Materials and Methods section. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, a statement identifying who had the idea for the article, who performed the literature search and data analysis, and who drafted and/or critically revised the work, a disclosure statement, a section entitled “Declarations” or “Statements and Declarations” before the references, and documentation of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References Citations must use name-and-year style in the text. References must include only cited published or accepted works, be alphabetized by the first author's last name, list all author names except that et al. may be used only for author lists longer than 12, and include full DOI links when available.
Figures & Tables If possible, the submission should be a single file including all tables and figures, with tables and figures placed after the reference list on separate pages and not inserted directly in the main body, although figures should be submitted within the body of the text if file size does not cause upload problems. Tables and figures must be numbered with Arabic numerals and cited in consecutive numerical order, each table must have a caption, and each figure must have a concise caption included in the manuscript text file rather than the figure file.
