Neurobiology of Disease

Neurobiology of Disease is a major international open access journal at the interface between basic and clinical neuroscience. It publishes research and review papers on molecular and cellular disease mechanisms, neural systems and behavioral disorders, genetics of inherited neurological and psychiatric diseases, nervous system aging, and findings relevant to the development of new therapies. The journal also welcomes negative results when authors provide strong justification for the importance of the observations.

Research Papers

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured. Abstract must briefly state the purpose of the research, methods, principal results, and major conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined sections using headings. Submission must include 1 to 7 English keywords, 3 to 5 highlights bullets of no more than 85 characters each, a separate acknowledgements section before the references, competing interest and funding declarations, and a declaration of any generative AI use in writing.
References References may be submitted in any consistent style, but in-text citations must use author-date format. Reference list must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically if needed, include full bibliographic details, abbreviate journal names according to LTWA, and use first author et al. in text for works with three or more authors.
Figures & Tables Tables must be submitted as editable text and figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively, and include captions, and figures must be cited in the text, numbered in sequence, and include captions explaining symbols and abbreviations.
