Research Articles

Cover Letter A brief cover letter summarizing the article’s significance and fit with the journal’s aims and scope is required on first submission. The cover letter must summarize the article’s significance and fit with the journal’s aims and scope and clearly explain any use of AI tools in generating the text.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract should be unstructured.
Manuscript Research Articles must be formatted in APA style 7th Edition and arranged as Title/Authors/Affiliations/Contact Information/Keywords, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Data and Code Availability Statements, Acknowledgements, and References. The manuscript must include up to 6 keywords, data and code availability statements, and a clear declaration of any AI tool use in the text.
References References must be formatted in APA style 7th Edition. References should follow APA 7th Edition formatting.
Figures & Tables Tables should appear inline, figures should preferably be placed close to where they are referenced in the text, and figures must also be supplied as separate files. Figures and tables must be labeled or numbered, figure legends must appear on the same page as the figures, and tables must be formatted as tables rather than tab-delimited or comma-delimited text.

Cover Letter Cover letters are required for both Stage 1 and Stage 2 Registered Reports submissions. The manuscript must provide up to 6 keywords, use future tense for prospective Stage 1 methods and analyses, include optional Pilot Data if applicable, restrict Stage 2 main Results to pre-planned analyses with any unplanned work in a separate section titled "Exploratory analyses," include a declaration within the text of any AI use, and include pre-specified positive controls or a justification for their absence.
