Pharmaceutical Research is an official journal of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists covering innovative research in drug discovery, development, evaluation, and regulatory approval. Current emphasis includes preformulation, drug delivery and targeting, formulation design, engineering and processing, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and pharmacogenomics, molecular biopharmaceutics and drug disposition, and computational biopharmaceutics. The journal publishes papers on small drug molecules and biotechnology products including genes, peptides, proteins, vaccines, and genetically engineered cells, and publishes twelve issues a year.

Research Papers

Cover Letter A cover letter is required and must be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief and signed by the corresponding author on behalf of all authors.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Research Papers. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 6,000 words, and there is no limit on pages, tables, or figures. Manuscript should be organized as Abbreviations, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments, and References, and combining Results and Discussion is discouraged. Manuscript must include no more than 5 keywords and a mandatory Conflict of Interest Statement section.
References Research Papers should contain no more than approximately 40 references and must not exceed 100 references. References must use Vancouver style. References must be numbered in order of appearance, cited in text with numbers in parentheses, and list all authors up to six followed by et al. for more than six authors.
Figures & Tables There is no limit on the number of tables or figures. Figure captions must be provided in a separate section titled “Legend to Figures.” Tables must be created in Microsoft Word table format, and figures must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals while tables are numbered with Roman numerals.

Cover Letter A cover letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief and signed by the corresponding author on behalf of all authors is required.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 8,000 words, with word count including the abstract and full text but excluding references, figures, and tables. Manuscript must include title page, abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results or results and discussion, discussion, conclusion, references, acknowledgements, funding statement, conflict of interest statement, and figure legends in that order. Manuscript must include no more than 5 keywords, a mandatory Conflict of Interest Statement section, an Abbreviations section before the Introduction for nonstandard abbreviations, and may include supplementary material.
References References must not exceed 300. References must conform to Vancouver style. References must be numbered in order of appearance, cited in the text with numbers in parentheses, and list all authors up to six followed by et al. for more than six authors.
Figures & Tables There is no limit to the number of tables or figures. Figure captions must be provided in a separate section called “Legend to Figures,” while no explicit placement rule for tables is stated. Tables must be created in Microsoft Word table format and figures must be numbered in one consecutive series of Arabic numerals.

Figures & Tables Figure captions must be provided separately in a section titled “Legend to Figures.” Tables must be numbered with Roman numerals, and figures must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals in the order cited.
