Psychological Assessment is a monthly APA journal focused on empirical research and integrative reviews relevant to clinical psychological assessment. It covers clinical judgment and decision-making, development and validation of assessment instruments, and clinically focused assessment of personality, psychopathology, cognitive and neuropsychological processes, and interpersonal behavior, along with methodological, theoretical, review, replication, brief report, translation-of-tests, and commentary/reply contributions within its scope.

Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required for Articles. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured as a single paragraph without subheadings. No headings are permitted in the abstract.
Manuscript Manuscript must be no longer than 40 pages excluding the reference list. Manuscript must include a separate abstract page, a 1–2 sentence Public Significance Statement placed below the abstract, a Methods subsection titled "Transparency and openness," and a Discussion subsection titled "Constraints on Generality." Manuscript must include up to five keywords after the abstract, a 30–70 word Public Significance Statement, and disclosure of any generative AI use in the methods section with citation and uploaded AI output as supplemental material.
References References must follow APA 7th edition style. References must be listed in alphabetical order, and every reference listed must be cited in the text with every text citation included in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Tables must be created using Word's insert table function.

Manuscript Brief Reports must be limited to 20 manuscript pages including the title page with author note, abstract, text, reference list, footnotes, tables, and figures. Brief Reports should provide a clear, condensed summary of the study procedure and as full an account of the results as space permits. Manuscripts must include up to five keywords after the abstract, a 1–2 sentence Public Significance Statement of 30–70 words below the abstract, a Methods subsection titled "Transparency and openness," a Discussion subsection titled "Constraints on Generality," and disclosure of any generative AI use in the methods section.
References References must follow APA 7th edition style. References must be listed in alphabetical order, and every reference must be cited in the text with every text citation included in the reference list.
Figures & Tables The number of tables and figures in Brief Reports should be limited.
