Psychopharmacology is an international journal discussing the mechanisms by which drugs influence behavior. It publishes research and reviews on the impact of drugs on human cognition and behavior, encourages submissions from clinical psychopharmacology to functional neuroimaging studies, is the official journal of the European Behavioural Pharmacology Society, and offers optional open access publication for a fee.

Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A structured abstract in English is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must be Rationale, Objectives, Methods (if applicable), Results, and Conclusions in that order.
Manuscript Review Articles should not exceed 25 pages of text excluding the title page, abstract, references, tables, and figures. The manuscript must include up to 10 keywords after the abstract, a disclosure statement, a statement of author contributions covering idea, literature search and data analysis, and drafting and/or critical revision, a Declarations section before the references, and documentation of any large language model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References References must be cited in the text by name and year in parentheses. The reference list must include only cited published or accepted works, be alphabetized by the last name of the first author, include full DOI links when available, use standard ISSN title word abbreviations for journal names, and support claims with appropriate and relevant literature.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text and large figures should be uploaded separately only if file size causes upload problems. Tables and figures must be numbered with Arabic numerals and cited in consecutive numerical order, each table must have a caption, and figure captions must be included in the manuscript text file rather than in the figure files.
