Original Research

Cover Letter A separate cover letter is required for Original Research submissions. Cover letter must state that the work is solely submitted to Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging, describe any conflicts of interest or subject overlap with prior publications, and state whether or not the first author is a trainee.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Original Research articles. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Purpose, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 3000 words from Introduction to Discussion. Main body must use the headings Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscript must include up to 3 Key Points, a required single-sentence summary statement, and an AI-use disclosure in the manuscript if AI or AI-assisted technologies were used.
References References are limited to 35. References must be numbered consecutively in the order first mentioned in the manuscript, consistent with a numbered Vancouver-style system. References must be cited in numeric order, use National Library of Medicine journal abbreviations, and include the DOI when available.
Figures & Tables Original Research articles are limited to 6 figures and 4 tables. For new submissions, all figures must be combined in one separate text document in citation order with legends immediately following the relevant figures, while tables must be embedded in the main manuscript one per page at the end. Each table must have a title and all abbreviations defined below it, and each figure legend must define findings and abbreviations and mention labels used in the figure.

Manuscript must include a required summary statement of 1 to 2 sentences, up to 3 Key Points on the abbreviated title page, and AI use disclosures in the manuscript if AI or AI-assisted technologies were used.
References References are limited to 25. References must be numbered consecutively in the order first mentioned in the manuscript, use National Library of Medicine journal abbreviations, include the DOI when available, and not cite unpublished materials.
Figures & Tables Articles are limited to 6 figures and 2 tables.
