Original Research

Cover Letter A separate cover letter is required. Cover letter must include the manuscript title, complete author list, first-author trainee/resident/fellow status, any justification for equal contribution or co-first/co-senior authorship, any overlap with published work, conflict of interest or industry support information including who controlled the data and analyses, confirmation of sole submission, and a clear description of any AI or AI-assisted technology use.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Purpose, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript Main text from Introduction through Discussion must not exceed 3000 words, with the Introduction limited to 400 words, Materials and Methods to 800 words, Results to 1000 words, and Discussion to 800 words. Main body must use the headings Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscript must include up to 3 Key Results totaling no more than 75 words, 1 Summary Statement of no more than 30 words, a demographics table as Table 1 for human studies, a participant flow diagram as Figure 1 for human studies, and a clear description of any AI or AI-assisted technology use.
References References must not exceed 35, although the limit may be extended for meta-analyses. References must be cited and numbered in the order they first appear in the text, and personal communications and unpublished materials must not be listed as references.
Figures & Tables Manuscript may include no more than 6 figures and 4 tables, with additional figures or tables allowed in supplemental materials. For new submissions, figures must be combined into one separate Word document with figure legends immediately following the relevant figures, while tables must be placed on separate pages in the manuscript file. Human studies must include a demographics table as Table 1 and a flow diagram as Figure 1, and each table and figure must be numbered in citation order with titles or legends that define abbreviations and include relevant units.

References References must not exceed 25. References must be numbered consecutively in the order they are first mentioned in the manuscript, and unpublished materials must not be listed.
Figures & Tables Manuscript may include no more than 6 figures and no more than 2 tables. Tables must be attached to the end of the manuscript text document, while figures are submitted separately. Tables must be prepared in Microsoft Word, each on a separate page with a short descriptive title, and the manuscript must include at least one or two actual scan images demonstrating the main findings.

Diagnostic Accuracy Study

Manuscript Manuscript should include scientific and clinical background, objectives and hypotheses, eligibility criteria, participant identification and setting, detailed index test and reference standard methods, handling of indeterminate and missing data, participant flow diagram, baseline characteristics, diagnostic accuracy results with precision, study limitations, implications for practice, registry information, protocol access, and funding support. Manuscript must include a participant flow diagram, report baseline demographic and clinical characteristics, include cross tabulation of index test results by reference standard, and clearly describe any AI or AI-assisted technology used including the tool name, version, date of access, and manufacturer.
References References must be numbered consecutively in the order first mentioned in the manuscript, and unpublished materials must not be listed.
Figures & Tables Tables must be attached to the end of the main text document, while the manuscript must include a participant flow diagram and at least one or two scan images demonstrating the main findings.
