Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must briefly summarize the work, explain its appropriateness for the journal, and include statements of authorship, conflicts of interest, and ethical adherence.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must be 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript is limited to 3500 words. Manuscript must be organized into Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion, followed by References, Tables, and Figures. Manuscript must include a title page and list three to five key words.
References References are limited to 30 print references. Manuscript style must follow the American Medical Association Manual of Style, 11th edition. References must be numbered in text in order of appearance, list only the first three authors followed by et al. when there are more than three, and use standard journal name abbreviations for journal citations.
Figures & Tables Each figure must be submitted on a separate manuscript page after the references, and all tables must be grouped in a separate file rather than embedded in the manuscript body. Figures and tables must be cited consecutively in the text, figures must include legends, and each table must appear on a separate sheet with a title, column heads, and explanatory legends.
