Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must indicate why the manuscript is suitable for publication and must disclose any third-party writing or editing assistance or submission by someone not listed as an author, if applicable.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must be no more than 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Objectives, Design, Methods, Results, Conclusion, and Registration if applicable.
Manuscript Manuscript should be up to 6000 words excluding tables, figure legends, and references. Manuscript generally includes Abstract, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments, Statements and Declarations, and References. Manuscript must include at least 2 keywords after the abstract, a plain language title of approximately 50 words and plain language summary of approximately 300 words, an Author Contributions heading, a 'Statements and Declarations' section with all required subheadings including 'Not applicable' where relevant, disclosure of AI usage when required, and a statement in the methods identifying which reporting guidelines were consulted.
References References must follow Sage Vancouver style. Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa, with identical spelling and year in corresponding citations.
