Original Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter must be submitted. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript is suitable for the journal readership and describe any special circumstances the editor should be aware of.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured using the headings Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Abstract headings must be Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript Original Research Articles generally include Abstract, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments, Statements and Declarations, and References, with the Introduction ending in the study aim and hypothesis and the Materials and Methods and Results divided into bold subheaded subsections. Exactly 5 keywords must be provided after the abstract, and the manuscript must include a Declaration Statements section containing anonymized Funding, Conflict of Interest, Ethics, Consent, Data Availability, and Acknowledgements statements.
References References must be formatted according to the AMA Manual of Style. References must be numbered in consecutive order of citation in the text using superscript Arabic numerals, and list all authors unless there are more than 6, in which case list the first 3 followed by "et al.".
Figures & Tables Figures and tables created in Word should be included in the main text, while figures and tables created outside Word must be submitted separately with placeholder notes in the manuscript, and each table and each figure must also be uploaded as separate files. Each figure and table must have a numbered legend in order of first citation that contains enough detail to explain the content and results.

Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter must be submitted. The cover letter must explain why the manuscript is suitable for the journal readership and note any special circumstances the editor should be aware of, and it must disclose any third-party writing or editing assistance or non-author submission on behalf of the authors.

Figures must be numbered consecutively, tables must be labeled as tables with a number and title and include a header row and/or column, and tables must be editable text rather than images.

Systematic Review

Manuscript Systematic Review manuscripts must follow the research article template and include registration number and registry information in the Materials & Methods section. The manuscript must include at least 5 keywords after the abstract, an Author Contributions heading after the Acknowledgements section, a Statements and Declarations section with all required subheadings, and a cited PRISMA flowchart figure.
References References must follow AMA style. References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited using superscript Arabic numerals, and in the reference list all authors must be listed unless there are more than 6, in which case the first 3 are followed by "et al.".

Abstract An abstract is required for Mini Review Articles. The abstract must not exceed 300 words. Mini Review Articles require an unstructured abstract. The abstract should cover background, main body, and a short conclusion.
Manuscript Mini Review Articles should be approximately 2000 words. Mini Review Articles must provide clinical context along with discussion of challenges and potential future developments. Include a minimum of 5 keywords after the abstract and add sections headed 'Author Contributions' and 'Statements and Declarations' after the Acknowledgements section if applicable.

The manuscript must include exactly 5 keywords, an alphabetical abbreviations list with terms spelled out at first mention, and a Declaration Statements section containing anonymized Funding, Conflict of Interest, Ethics, Consent, Data Availability, and Acknowledgements statements.
