Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology publishes original scientific research relevant to animals or humans on the action of chemicals, drugs, or chemically defined natural products. The journal publishes regular articles focused on mechanistic physiological, pharmacologic, biochemical, cellular, or molecular understanding of toxicologic and pathologic lesions and related methods, as well as Safety Science articles, short articles, and invited review articles.

A concise and factual abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript
Research Papers should be approximately 25 to 35 double-spaced pages including references but excluding figures. Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined sections using headings. Manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, article highlights submitted separately as 3 to 5 bullet points, and a generative AI use declaration in a new section before the references if such tools were used in manuscript preparation.
References
In-text citations should use author name and year. References may be in any consistent style at submission and should be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically if needed.
Figures & Tables
Tables must be included as editable text while figures and other artwork must be uploaded as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be editable text with captions and figures must each have a caption and be cited in the manuscript text.

Manuscript must include 1 to 7 keywords in English, article highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points submitted separately, and a generative AI declaration section before the references if such tools were used in manuscript preparation.

Short High Impact Articles must contain no more than a combined total of four figures and tables. Figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript, while tables are addressed only as editable text. Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images, and every figure and table must be cited in the manuscript and numbered consecutively with a caption.
