The World Journal of Biological Psychiatry publishes basic and clinical research from all disciplines relevant to biological psychiatry, including neuroscience, biochemistry and physiology. It is a clinically oriented journal for psychiatrists, educators, scientists and students interested in biological psychiatry, and it publishes original papers, brief reports, critical reviews, treatment guidelines, consensus reports, and letters to the editor.

Original Investigations

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must be 200 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must cover objectives, methods, results, and conclusions in that order.
Manuscript The manuscript must be no more than 5000 words inclusive of the abstract, footnotes, and endnotes. Original Investigations typically include Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion sections. The abstract and keywords must be included in both the main manuscript file and the online submission form, and the manuscript must contain no more than 5 keywords.
References T&F standard CSE reference style. The reference section must appear at the end of the main text under the heading “References.”
Figures & Tables The desired position of tables and figures must be indicated in the manuscript, and figures must be saved separately from the text. Tables must present new information rather than duplicating the text, tables must be supplied as editable files, and figures must be high quality at the correct size.

Review Articles must follow the order title page, abstract, keywords, main text introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices as appropriate, tables with captions on individual pages, figures, and figure captions as a list. The manuscript must contain no more than 5 keywords and include a declaration of interest statement, a disclosure statement on generative AI use, and acknowledgments.
References References must use the T&F standard CSE reference style. The reference section must appear at the end of the main text under the heading “References.”
Figures & Tables Tables and figures must be placed in the manuscript in their desired positions, figures must be saved separately from the text, and figure captions must be listed separately. Figures must be high quality and supplied in preferred formats, tables must present new information and be supplied as editable files, and the manuscript must indicate where figures and tables should appear.
