Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state whether any other papers are in press, submitted, or in preparation based on the same data set and, if the study includes original data, include confirmation from at least one author of full data access and responsibility for data integrity and analysis accuracy.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must be Background, Methods, Results, Conclusions, Keywords, and Abbreviations.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 5000 words including the title page and abstract but excluding references and tables, and the total word count must appear on the title page. Original Articles must use the conventional format of Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion. Manuscript must include a text box at the end with four or five key bullet points of 80 to 120 words covering what is known, what is new, and what is relevant.
References References must follow APA 5th edition style. References must be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the article rather than in footnotes, with journal titles given in full and not abbreviated.
Figures & Tables Original Articles are limited to 5 tables and 5 figures. Tables and figures must appear at the end of the main text and references, with their intended position clearly indicated in the manuscript. Tables and figures must be intelligible without reference to the text.
