Original Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required, and if the main text exceeds 4000 words or the reference list exceeds 40 references it must explain why. Cover letter must introduce the submission, comment on its suitability for the journal, and indicate if the relevant EQUATOR reporting guideline was followed.
Abstract Original Research manuscripts must include an abstract. The abstract must be structured and no longer than 350 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Introduction, Material and methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The main text can be up to 4000 words. The manuscript must be organized as Title page, Conflicts of Interest statement, Funding information, Abstract, Keywords, Abbreviations, Key Message, Main text, Ethics statement, Acknowledgments, Author contribution statement, References, legends of supporting information if any, legends of tables and figures, and tables and/or figures, and the main text must use the headings Introduction, Material and methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. The manuscript must include 5 to 8 keywords, a list of abbreviations used in the main text five or more times, a Key Message of no more than 40 words, and transparent disclosure in the Material and methods section or Acknowledgement if AI tools were used for editing or linguistic enhancement.
References No more than 40 references are recommended, and if more than 40 are included the cover letter must explain why. References must use Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention using superscript Arabic numerals, list all authors when there are six or fewer, list the first three authors followed by 'et al.' when there are seven or more, and use Index Medicus journal title abbreviations.
Figures & Tables The total number of tables and figures combined must not exceed eight. Tables may be placed after the references in the main manuscript file or uploaded separately, while figures must be submitted as separate files. Legends for tables and figures must be provided after the references, each table and figure must be cited in the text, and figure and table legends must be fully explanatory.

Systematic Review

Cover Letter A cover letter is required, and if the main text exceeds 4000 words or the reference list greatly exceeds 60 entries it must explain why. The cover letter should introduce the submission and comment on its appropriateness for the journal, and it should include the PROSPERO registration number if available.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Systematic Review manuscripts. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Introduction, Material and methods, Results, and Conclusions, and the Material and methods section must provide the PROSPERO registration number.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 4000 words. Main text should be organized as Introduction, Material and methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. The manuscript must state the primary and any secondary outcomes, give the PROSPERO registration number in the main text, include a graphical abstract, and transparently report any use of AI tools for editing or linguistic enhancement in the Material and methods section or Acknowledgement.
References References are not subject to a strict maximum, but in general no more than 60 should be used.
Figures & Tables A graphical abstract is mandatory. The graphical abstract must be uploaded as a separate figure file titled 'Graphical Abstract figure'.

Updated Systematic Review

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must introduce the submission, comment on its appropriateness for the journal, and indicate if appropriate that the relevant reporting guideline was followed.
Abstract Abstract requirements are not specified.
Manuscript Updated Systematic Review articles must use the same format as a regular Systematic Review and include the process for inclusion of newly identified evidence, the frequency of updates, the updated status of the review, the latest search date, changes in results versus previous results, and a process for stopping live updates when the literature becomes static. A graphical abstract is mandatory, and any use of artificial intelligence tools for editing or linguistic enhancement must be transparently reported in the Material and methods section or in the Acknowledgement as appropriate.
References When data are available and linked, the dataset must be cited in the reference list using the format Authors; Year; Dataset title; Data repository or archive; Version (if any); Persistent identifier.
Figures & Tables The graphical abstract must be uploaded as a separate figure file titled 'Graphical Abstract figure'.

State-Of-The-Art Review

Cover Letter A cover letter is required, and it must explain any State-Of-The-Art Review exceeding 4000 words or including more than 60 references. Cover letter must introduce the submission, comment on its appropriateness for the journal, and explain any excess over 4000 words or 60 references.
Abstract A block abstract is required for a State-Of-The-Art Review. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be a block abstract.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 4000 words. Manuscript must address an important clearly defined clinically or translationally relevant question, systematically describe how information was identified, quality assessed, and selected, synthesize the evidence with emphasis on the best-quality articles, and discuss controversial and unresolved issues. Manuscript must include a Key Message of no more than 40 words and a mandatory graphical abstract.
References The recommended number of references is 60, and the cover letter must explain if more than 60 references are included.
Figures & Tables One graphical abstract is mandatory. The graphical abstract must be uploaded as a separate figure file titled 'Graphical Abstract figure'.
