Research Article
Cover Letter
Cover letter is required and must include reasons for submission. Cover letter must include reasons for submission and disclose any overlap with previous publication or prior conference abstract presentation.
Abstract
A full structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Objective, Design, Setting, Population or Sample, Methods, Main Outcome Measures, Results, Conclusions, Funding, and Keywords in that order.
Manuscript
Manuscript must not exceed 3500 words, with the Introduction limited to 400 words and the Discussion plus Conclusion limited to 1200 words combined. Main text must be organized under Funding, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, with the Discussion including Main Findings, Strengths and Limitations, and Interpretation. Manuscript must include a Funding section with funder details and grant information, a Methods section addressing core outcome sets and patient involvement or stating patients were not involved, and transparent disclosure of any generative AI use in the Methods, disclosure, or Acknowledgements section.
References
References must use the Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first citation, cited as superscripts, list all authors when there are up to six and the first six followed by et al when there are more than six.
Figures & Tables
A maximum of 4 tables and figures can appear in print. Tables and figures must not be included in the main text and must be submitted as separate files, with additional items uploaded as supporting information. Tables and figure files must be editable, include legends, and each item appearing in print must be no longer than 1 page.

Cover Letter
Cover letter is required and must include reasons for submission, with any overlap with previous publication or prior conference abstract submission detailed. Cover letter must include reasons for submission and disclose any overlap with a previous publication or prior presentation of the work in abstract form at a conference.
Abstract
Abstract is required for Systematic Reviews. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Objectives, Search Strategy, Selection Criteria, Data Collection and Analysis, Main Results, Conclusions, Funding, and Keywords in that order.
Manuscript
Main text must not exceed 3500 words, the Introduction must not exceed 400 words, and the Discussion and Conclusion combined must not exceed 1200 words. Main text must be subdivided under Funding, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, with the Discussion including Main Findings, Strengths and Limitations, and Interpretation. Methods must discuss core outcome sets and patient involvement, the Conclusion must include practical and research recommendations, the Funding section must name the funding body and grant identifier and explain peer review and funder role, and any generative AI use must be transparently described in the Methods, disclosures, or Acknowledgements as applicable.
References
References must use the Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited as superscripts, listing all authors for works with up to six authors and the first six followed by et al for works with more than six authors.
Figures & Tables
A maximum of 4 tables and figures can appear in print, with any additional items submitted as supporting information. Tables and figures must not be included in the main text and must be submitted as separate editable files, while the detailed Search Strategy and tables of included and excluded studies must be uploaded as supplementary information only and labelled Appendix S1 and Table S1. Each table or figure appearing in print must be no longer than 1 page, legends must be included, and separate numbering sequences must be used for tables, figures, and supporting information.

Cover letter is required. Cover letter must include reasons for submission and detail any extenuating circumstances if a trial requiring prospective registration was not prospectively registered.
Abstract
A full structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Objective, Design, Setting, Population or Sample, Methods, Main Outcome Measures, Results, Conclusions, Funding, and Keywords, with the clinical trial registration number and trial URL at the end of the abstract.
Manuscript
Manuscript must not exceed 3500 words, with the Introduction limited to 400 words and the Discussion plus Conclusion limited to 1200 words combined. Main text must be subdivided into Funding, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, and the Discussion must include the subheadings Main Findings, Strengths and Limitations, and Interpretation. Methods must state if and how patients were involved or explicitly state that patients were not involved, and any use of generative AI must be transparently described in the Methods section, a disclosure, or the Acknowledgements.

Manuscript must include 10 keywords, a box with condensed text or bullet points for key clinical points, a box for future research, and a transparent AI-use disclosure in the Methods, disclosures, or Acknowledgements if generative AI was used.

Figures & Tables
In Focus articles may include up to 12 tables and figures. Tables and figures must be submitted as separate editable files rather than embedded in the main text, and any beyond the print limit must be uploaded as supporting information. A maximum of four tables and figures can appear in print, with each print table or figure limited to one page and tables and figures limited to four pages in total.
