BMEMat, abbreviated from Biomedical Engineering Materials, is an interdisciplinary open access journal focused on functional materials with applications in biomedical engineering. It provides a platform for scientific and technological innovations across materials science, biomedical engineering, biology, and medicine and is published in partnership with Shandong University.

BMEMat accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Research Article

Cover Letter Cover letter is required only if the submission is a revised or extended version of a manuscript previously rejected by the journal. Cover letter must inform the editor about the previous submission and explain in detail what changes have been made.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Research Article is typically around 3000–8000 words in its entirety. Manuscript must include an introduction summarizing the objectives and main conclusions, the main text, a conclusion summarizing the conclusions that can be drawn, and a subsection entitled “Statistical Analysis” at the end of the Experimental Section. Manuscript must include 3 to 7 keywords, a short Table of Contents text of 50–60 words with a graphic, and the main article must stand on its own without Supporting Information.
References References may be submitted in any consistent style or format.
Figures & Tables Research Article typically includes 3–10 display items. Figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted inline within the main text, although images may also be submitted as separate files. Figures and tables must have legends or captions and be mentioned in the text in numerical order.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Review should keep within 10,000 words in its entirety. Review should be divided into appropriate sections. Manuscript must include 3 to 7 keywords, a short Table of Contents text of 50 to 60 words with a graphic, a graphical abstract, and author biographies of up to 100 words each for highlighted authors.
References References may be submitted in any consistent style or format, and in the manuscript text they should be numbered consecutively, cited as superscript numbers in square brackets after punctuation, and listed at the end with all authors named and no use of “et al.”.
Figures & Tables Review should include 3 to 15 display items. Figures and schemes must be inserted in-line within the main text, while tables should be included in the manuscript document. Each figure, scheme, and table must have a caption or brief legend.
