Adversity and Resilience Science

Adversity and Resilience Science is a multidisciplinary journal focusing on protective factors and processes that promote resilience in the face of adversity throughout the lifespan. It publishes research on developmental changes across the lifespan with a focus on adversity and resilience, including empirical articles, reviews, brief reports, and policy papers, and encourages clinical and policy applications across fields such as psychology, social work, education, and public health.

Research Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a separate section entitled "Declarations" before the reference list, and any use of a large language model must be documented in the Methods section or a suitable alternative section if no Methods section is available. Manuscript must include a one-sentence public relevance statement, up to three succinct sentences describing key findings, 4 to 6 keywords, an authors' contribution statement, relevant declarations including a disclosure statement, and the heading "Declarations" even if it states "Not applicable."
References References must be cited in the text using name-and-year parenthetical citations. Reference list entries must be alphabetized by first-author surname, include all authors up to 20 or the first 19 plus an ellipsis and final author for larger groups, and include full DOI links when available.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text unless file size causes upload problems, in which case large figures should be submitted separately. Tables and figures must be numbered with Arabic numerals, cited in consecutive numerical order, and each must have a caption, with figure captions included in the manuscript text file rather than in the figure file.
