American Heart Journal publishes articles on the broad discipline of cardiovascular disease, including primary investigation, scholarly review, and opinion concerning the practice of cardiovascular medicine. It especially encourages submissions of negative clinical studies, reports on study designs, and studies involving the organization of medical care, and does not accept individual case reports or original articles involving bench laboratory or animal research.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript Manuscript should be divided into clearly defined sections covering all essential elements using headings. The submission must include 1 to 7 English keywords, 3 to 5 highlights submitted as a separate editable file, and an AI-use disclosure section before the references if generative AI was used in manuscript preparation.
References References must be cited in the text by number in square brackets and numbered in the order of appearance. References must be consistent in style, include the required bibliographic details, and use LTWA abbreviations for journal names.

Abstract Abstract is required for Research Letters. Abstract must be three sentences or fewer. Abstract must be short and unstructured. Abstract must describe the objective of the letter.
Manuscript Research Letters must not exceed 1500 words. The manuscript must include 1 to 7 keywords in English, article highlights as a separate editable file with 3 to 5 bullet points of no more than 85 characters each, and an AI-use declaration in a new section before the references if generative AI was used in manuscript preparation.
References Research Letters may include up to 12 references. References must be cited as numbers in square brackets and listed in the order of first appearance.
