The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition is a peer-reviewed primary research journal in nutrition and dietetics and an official monthly publication of the American Society for Nutrition. It publishes research relevant to human and clinical nutrition, including obesity, vitamins and minerals, nutrition and disease, energy metabolism, well-controlled clinical studies of dietary interventions, public health and epidemiologic studies, and innovative work using epigenetic, genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic approaches.

Original Research Articles

Abstract
Original Research Articles must include a structured abstract written in complete sentences. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured with the headings Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Abstract must include the headings Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, and if applicable it must include the clinical trial registry number and website link or the registry and registry number for systematic reviews or meta-analyses.
Manuscript
Manuscript should include the sections Title Page, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments with statement of authors’ contributions to manuscript and data sharing plan, and References. Manuscript must indicate who is responsible for design, writing, and final content, include a statement that all authors have read and approved the manuscript, and include a Declaration of Generative AI and AI assisted technologies in the writing process section before the references.
References
References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited in the text as Arabic numerals in parentheses before punctuation, listing the first 6 authors followed by 'et al.' for works with more than 6 authors and all authors when there are 6 or fewer.
Figures & Tables
Tables must be included in the text file following the references and not uploaded separately, whereas each figure must be submitted as a separate file with legends provided in the manuscript text file.
