Manuscripts
Cover Letter
Cover letters are required for all new or transferred submissions. The cover letter must justify deletion of any required abstract section.
Abstract
A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured in seven required sections and submitted on a separate page in the manuscript file. Abstract must include Objective or Purpose, Design, Subjects/Participants/Controls, Methods/Intervention/Testing, Main Outcome Measures, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript
Discussion must be the final section of the manuscript, and a separate conclusion section must not be included. The manuscript submission must include a separate précis of 35 words or fewer summarizing the main finding or outcome in complete unbulleted sentences without duplicating the abstract conclusion, the title page must include 3 to 5 key words, and any use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in writing must be declared in a section placed before the references.
References
The manuscript file must contain no more than 50 references. References must be in AMA style. References must be cited in the text using consecutive superscript Arabic numerals in the order of appearance.
Figures & Tables
Figures and tables must not be embedded in the manuscript file and must be submitted as separate files. Figure legends must be submitted separately from figure files, and tables must be built in Microsoft Word with one table per file or combined in a single Word file.
Systematic Review
Cover Letter
Cover letter is required for new or transferred submissions. Cover letter must state whether reporting guidelines were followed and which were used, and whether the exact full search strategy for at least one database was presented in an appendix with enough detail to permit replication.
Abstract
Structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured into five sections. Abstract must include the headings Topic, Clinical relevance, Methods, Results, and Conclusion, and must include the registration number.
Manuscript
Manuscript text must be divided into Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, and the Methods section must include the subheadings Eligibility criteria for considering studies for this review, Search methods for identifying studies, Study selection, Data collection and risk of bias assessment, and Data synthesis and analysis. Manuscript must include a précis of 35 words or fewer submitted as a separate file rather than in the manuscript, 3 to 5 key words on the title page, and a declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process at the end of the manuscript before the references if such tools were used.

Correspondence is limited to 700 words. Correspondence must begin with 'To the Editor,' use the title format 'Re: [last name of first author of published article] et al.: [title of the published article to which the Correspondence refers],' and end with the name, degree, and location for each author. Correspondence should address no more than three points, must reference the article being commented on in the first paragraph as the first listed reference, and must include a 'Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process' section before the references if AI-assisted writing was used.
References
