Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required if the manuscript has more than 5 authors. The cover letter must detail the contributions of all authors when there are more than 5 authors.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be 350 words or fewer, excluding the 'What is known about the subject' and 'What this study adds to existing knowledge' items. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include Background, Hypothesis/Purpose, Study Design, Methods, Results, Conclusion, Clinical Relevance, Key Terms, What is known about the subject, and What this study adds to existing knowledge.
Manuscript Manuscript must be 6000 words or fewer, including abstract and references. Manuscript should generally follow the IMRAD format of Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. The manuscript must include at least 4 key terms in the abstract and must declare any AI use by identifying the program and describing how it was used.
References No reference count limit is stated for review articles because the general 60-reference limit does not apply. References must use AMA Manual of Style, 11th edition. References must be in alphabetical order by the last name of the first author, numbered according to that alphabetical listing, and use Index Medicus journal title abbreviations.
Figures & Tables Figures and tables together must not exceed 3 journal pages. Figures and tables should appear in the body of the manuscript near where they are mentioned, and high-resolution figure images should also be uploaded separately as figure files.
