Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must indicate why the manuscript is suitable for publication.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Objectives, Design, Methods, Results, Conclusion, and Registration if applicable.
Manuscript Manuscript should be up to 6000 words excluding tables, figure legends, and references. Manuscript generally includes Abstract, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, Statements and Declarations, and References, and it must state in the methods which reporting guidelines were consulted. Manuscript must include a plain language summary, at least 2 keywords after the abstract, an Author Contributions heading after the Acknowledgements section, and a 'Statements and Declarations' section at the end with all required subheadings including 'Not applicable' where relevant.
References References must follow Sage Vancouver style. Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa, and corresponding citations must have identical spelling and year.
Figures & Tables Figures, charts, and tables created in Word should be included in the main text, while figures and other files created outside Word must be submitted separately with a placeholder note in the text for separately submitted figures.
