Annals of Global Health is a peer-reviewed, fully open access online journal dedicated to publishing high quality articles on all aspects of global health. Its mission is to advance global health, promote research, and foster the prevention and treatment of disease worldwide, with goals of improving health and well-being, advancing health equity, and promoting stewardship of the earth's environment. The journal is supported by the Program for Global Public Health and the Common Good at Boston College, was founded in 1934 as the Mount Sinai Journal of Medicine, and reports an impact factor of 3.20.

Original Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state the manuscript type, title, and authors; confirm that the manuscript is not published or under consideration elsewhere, that all authors participated in preparing the manuscript, and that permission has been obtained to reprint previously published figures or tables; and include a brief description of each author's role.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include background, objective(s), methods, findings, and conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 5000 words including the abstract, main text, and acknowledgements but excluding tables, references, and the title page. The manuscript text file must begin with a title page containing the manuscript title, complete author list with degrees and affiliations, corresponding author contact information, funding sources, conflict of interest statement for all authors, verification that all authors had access to the data and a role in writing the manuscript, article type, key words, and a running head. A separate conflict of interest document signed by each author, with electronic signatures acceptable, must disclose any potential conflicts for each author or confirm that there are none.
References References should be limited to approximately 40. References must follow AMA style. In-text citations must use sequential superscript numbers in square brackets within punctuation, the reference list must be in numerical order of citation, DOIs should be included where possible, and works with more than 6 authors should list the first 3 authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables There is no table or figure limit within reason. Figures must be uploaded separately as supplementary files, while tables should be included in the manuscript. Figures must be cited in consecutive Arabic-numeral order and include a descriptive title, legend, and alt text in the text document, and photographs and illustrations must be submitted as TIFF files at 300 dpi or greater while line art figures may be submitted in Microsoft Word or PowerPoint.

Abstract Abstract is not required.

Manuscript may use the basic building blocks of a regular article and should begin with the salutation "To the Editor:" or, for reply letters, "The Reply:". The first page must be a title page including the manuscript title, complete author list with degrees and affiliations, corresponding author contact information, funding sources, conflict of interest statement for all authors, article type, key words, and a running head, and author names and affiliations must also appear at the end of the text.
