Bioactive Materials is an international, peer-reviewed research publication covering all aspects of bioactive materials. It publishes research papers, reviews and rapid communications on the science and engineering of next-generation biomaterials that interact with cells, tissues or organs across living species, including bioactive metals and alloys, inorganics, polymers and gels, natural materials, and composites for applications such as implants, tissue engineering scaffolds, carriers, imaging, and sensing devices.

Original Research

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required for Original Research. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract should be structured with appropriate headings. Abstract should state the purpose of the research, outline basic procedures, present the main findings, and give the principal conclusions while emphasizing new and important aspects of the study.
Manuscript Manuscript should be divided into clearly defined sections using headings. The manuscript must include 4 to 6 English keywords, article highlights of 3 to 5 bullet points submitted as a separate editable file, a graphical abstract submitted as a separate file, a competing interests statement, and an AI-use declaration in a new section before the references if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in writing.
References References must be cited in the text using numbers in square brackets and listed in the order of appearance. References may be submitted in any consistent style but must include core bibliographic details, and journal names must be abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Tables may be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, figures may be presented with captions within the main body, and all figures and tables must also be uploaded as separate files. Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images, and all figures and tables must include captions or titles with any necessary descriptions and footnotes.
